Today marks five years since the Regent Theatre in Mudgee N.S.W. was listed on the State Heritage Register. There are seven criteria used when assessing heritage significance; an item needs to meet one or two to be considered.
The Regent Theatre met six of the criteria!

The heritage listing shared here announcement by Dugald Saunders encapsulates much of the importance and relevance of the Regent to our community and to the State of NSW, with Saunders proudly proclaiming the listing as "a big win for the Mudgee community".
Sadly, five years on, the total disregard shown by the owners combined with the indifference and inaction of Heritage NSW, Dugald Saunders and Mid Western Regional Council has left the Regent Theatre in a sorry state, making a mockery of its heritage status.
Is it time for our elected representatives to take the necessary action to revive the Regent Theatre and give the Mudgee community their "big win"?
